Where I stayed
We got up and before we left once more enjoyed the great breakfast the hostel had and left for the train station. On the train we were very worried we wouldn't get seats. We pretty much had to walk from one end of the train to the other before we spotted a couple with a bag and their feet up on the two seats facing them and so we asked if there was anyone sitting there and they moved right away. They didn't seem too delighted though that we had spotted the seats (although they were the only empty ones in that car and there were still people passing by looking for seats). James did get up and check out the trains further on though and there were more empty seats up there. We didn't move though because these seats had a plug in for our computer and the others didn't.
The rest of the trip to Prague was a breeze but as soon as we got there we decided we should check on our trips to Krakow and then Vienna while at the train station. The guy we asked didn't speak much english though and just printed out times that the trains were running (which we could get off the internet) so we decided to come back the next day to find out about reservations and cost and such (our rail passes don't work in Poland).
We bought a Prague 3 day transportation pass as well, which just like the Berlin one ended up being a bit of a waste and buying single tickets probably would have been a bit cheaper since most of the sights are all within walking distance of eachother.
Finally we made it to our hostel. We knew the hostel was a school that was just transformed into a hostel for summer and so we were expecting the rooms to be emptied out classrooms with single beds line up in them, no problem. What we didn't expect was that the doors on each room don't lock so anyone can go in and out of each room; this made us a bit nervous since there were also no personal lockers in the rooms. There were lockers downstairs though, which didn't bother us until we saw that they were just big cages that other people also got a key to so anyone else storing stuff in the same locker/cage also had access to your things. We were a bit nervous about staying there at that point but then realized they also had a safe behind the check-in desk to put valuables in so the only people that had access were the hostel staff, this ended up working for us ok.
We figured we needed a comedy break that night so we decided to go to a movie. We found a theatre that was just a couple tram stops from us and headed out to see Hnagover 2. We loved the movie and thought it was hilarious but we still think the first one was funnier. We figured if this would have been the first one we may have enjoyed it just as much; but just like most sequels you know what type of things to expect after seeing the first one and so it's not as shocking.
When we were walking back out of the mall I (Jackie) noticed the glass roof was flashing and looked like it was getting sprayed with water. I thought they had special roof effects or something. Soon though we realized it was actually raining and the lights were actually huge lighting strikes. We got out side and it was a full on thunder and lighting show. The great thing about the storm though was that there was absolutely no wind so it was actually pretty cool to be outside in it!
