We woke up late so our thoughts of making it to Emei Shan faded but we still planned to head to the Leshan Giant Buddha this day. We also had to go get train tickets for our trip to Xian though and so after grabbing something to eat we hopped on a bus to the train station. After hunting down the ticket offices we got in line and ended up waiting about a half hour till we got to the front of the line. We once again handed over our directions of where we wanted to go and when, that we got from the hostel and got our tickets without a problem. By this time though it was after 1pm and we didn't know if we had time to get a bus to Leshan, figure out how to get to the buddha, tour around and then make it back before the buses stopped running from Leshan. Instead we decided to take a lazy day as we were sore from walking for so long the day before and really didn't want to walk around the city again. So after watching a movie in air-conditioned bliss in our room we decided to check out a massage place recommended in the map provided by our hostel. They suggest you take a taxi because the place is hard to find so we did just that. Our taxi though didn't really know where it was and dropped us in an alley after asking a guy in a shop and then motioned with his hand that we had to walk out and around to the other side of the buildings to find the place. We walked around like he said and made it to another alley on the other side of the building and then people just randomly started to point down the road as they passed us which we thought was odd since we hadn't even asked them or showed them where we were going; we just figured the only westerners that come down the alley are all looking for the same place. We ended up at kind of a dead end with only residential apartments on either side and were getting a little nervous but pushed on. We walked through an apartment gate and went around the corner to only find a small empty lot but then ventured up the stairs into the apartment building, luckily we ended up in a room with a desk and chairs and in a couple seconds a lady came out. We handed over our instructions we had written in chinese at the hostel saying we would like a one hour full body massage. The lady nodded and brought us to a room with a bunch of massage tables. The place wasn't fancy and the lady that welcomed us seemed to be in a large t-shirt style night shirt, which made us laugh a little. She started on James and then soon another lady came in to work on me (Jackie, of course).
The massage felt good, although a little rough at times. At one point I opened my eyes when James and I were on our sides facing eachother and the lady had James' arm extended over his head and was working his side. He opened his eyes too and made a face like he was laughing so I thought what she was doing was tickling him and he was trying to hold it in, later he told me he was actually in pain cause she had just been hammering her fist into his shoulder, lol. Maybe because our bodies were so happy the pain was gone or maybe because they knew what they we doing but afterward when we walked out of the place our aches and pains from the full day of walking the day before were gone; and at $4 for the hour we were happy with it anyway.
We decided to walk back to the hostel though so we could grab some fruit from the markets on the way; of course that was a bit stupid as the soreness we just got rid of in our legs and feet returned a little, oops.
