In the morning we woke up early only to find the campsite gate closed because of a triatholon going on and we had to wait around for an hour and a half before we could go. When we set out the road our ``trusty`` GPS took us on soon turned into yet another narrow windy gravel road. Finally after coming to two closed gates and nowhere to go we cursed the GPS, finally figured out how to set it to avoid unpaved roads and backtracked to the highway we were suppose to be on!

Our plan for the day was just to book a ferry crossing for the next day and maybe tour around the Queen Charlotte Sounds for the day. When we got to the ferry port in Picton though there was a ferry leaving in two hours and we ended up taking it! We decided we had no real plan for the Picton area so why not go ahead to the North Island and save a day.

The crossing went smooth and a guy sitting beside us had been on the viewing deck and apparently saw a couple dolphins, which of course made us pretty jealous to hear since we have yet to see one.

On the otherside we pretty much just made our way out of Wellington and found a place to stop for the night since it had gotten dark.

Now that we`re here we`re pumped and ready to take on the North Island!
