Sadly we failed to pull any april fools jokes on eachother, maybe because we were more focused on how wet and cold we were. We set out in the morning to do the hike to Anchorage Bay (only accessible by boat or walk) which is a 3.5-4 hour walk (11.5 km). Right away it started to rain lightly but we could see the edge of the thick clouds in the distance and figured it would clear up and be a perfect beach day by the end of the walk just in time for the beautiful bay. We got almost halfway there (about 6.5km left) when we decided we would stop at a little beach and eat and wait to see if maybe the rain would stop, if not we were heading back. The really horrible thing was on this rainy hike was that the only protection we had was a small umbrella, yep just one between the two of us. Neither of us have rain covers and I (Jackie) forgot to bring my umbrella, oops.
I spent the rest of the afternoon having a nap and James took the time to finish a book he's been waiting about half a month to read. That evening we both pretty much just read but also got to listen in on some girls from england sitting by us in the hostel living room. At one point they were discussing how many countries they thought there are in this world, whether or not Wales and Scotland are countries, and is the US one country or were each state a country?....I had a bit of a laugh to myself and tried to hide my smile through this conversation and others, while I was pretending to read my book of course.
