So our first day on the Great Ocean Road ended up being short as it's really cold and cloudy and windy so we wanted to try our luck and wait a day for some sun. We got to the first stop, Bay of Islands, and could barely keep our eyes open for a picture it was so windy. So we decided to follow a path in a brochure called coast to crater up to the north a bit thinking there would be something to see there for the day and then we could come back down and hope for maybe even a bit of sunshine the next day. We were wrong of course about something to do; we stopped for lunch, napped for two hours, drove a bit more north then turned back around, seeing nothing but farmland (cattle and sheep) the whole way, which wasn't so bad though. We just looked for a place to pull into and stop for the night all the way back and ended up finding a small road with a clearing out of sight of the highway JUST as we were about to turn back onto the ocean road! haha. So we planned to get a good night sleep at the point where we left off earlier in the day and then see the sights of the road the next day.
