I was told the weather so far has been colder than normal.
It's weird but I feel cold more often than hot since I got here. I brought a
digital thermometer so I know exactly what the temperature and humidity is.
It's mostly been in the high 70's and low 80's during the day with a 50-80%
humidity and mid to low 70's at night. It's almost always windy in the village
so it feels a lot colder than the temperature suggests. I am wearing my sweat
shirt and long pants in 70's temperature.

The kids here are just amazing. Environment and
circumstances forces them to be totally capable of self reliance at a very
young age. They can spear fish using the simplest equipment, they can catch
crabs, shell coconuts, use the bushknife, and can find food in the forest. They
make PCV's look completely incompetent.

I am totally digging my hut. It is constructed from a local
wood, and the walls and roof are from local plant leaves, and flooring is just
corals from the beach. It breathes really well. Only design limitation I can
see is that it is a little dark inside during the day since it does not have
windows and two doors are quite far apart so not much sunlight is let in. Lots
of little creatures live in the hut with me....bugs, hermit crabs, geckos,
cockroaches, spiders, centipedes, etc. For the most part we co-exist peacefully
but sometimes at night the little creatures get a little loud if I am trying to
sleep. There is this one rouge cockroach that keeps fucking with me
though....every time I put my book down not flat (with the pages flipped over to
oneside), it craws into the space between the pages and the table. And when I
lift the book or flip the page it craws out from the space. The first few times
it did that I got scared shitless. But after so many times I don't get scared
anymore, now it just becomes fuckin annoying. Does anything eat cockroaches?
