When we woke up this morning the ship was still on its way to Falmouth so we could take our time getting ready for the day.  Finally!  The sky was cloudy and it was fairly windy with a projected high of 61 degrees in Falmouth.

For breakfast we had omelets, bacon and sausage.  I decided to treat myself to an infamous Celebrity waffle and balanced the extra calories by adding no-sugar syrup (hey, I can try, right?).  We discovered a little-used area in the aft area that has upholstered chairs and less passengers.  From there it was to the theater to collect a ticket and wait for a tender to shore.  Unfortunately, the first 4 tenders out were dedicated to ship's tour passengers and the moderately high waves made the trip to shore longer than expected.  Our number was finally called and we left the ship a little after noon.

We spent some time walking around a small shopping center a few minutes from the dock.  We stopped at a gelato shop and enjoyed a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of chocolate chip mint ice cream.  Go figure - eating Italian ice cream in England!  We found a nearby grocery store and laid in a heavy supply of Pepsi for John.  Since there's no Pepsi One or Diet Pepsi, I'll have to make due with the ship's ice tea.  When reading up on Falmouth, it was suggested to try the locally-made alcoholic cider called "scrumpy".  The store sold jugs of Cornish Scrumpy so a bottle found it's way back on board with us.  It tastes like an apple-flavored flat champagne.

This port of call was very short, the day very windy and chilly, and the line back for the tender probably long, so we headed back.  Lunch was eaten at the buffet.  Relaxation and nap time was next on the agenda for a few hours then it was time to get fancied up for our first formal dinner night.

The ship left port 2 hours late due to a vehicle accident and a car fire.  Later we heard that a Cruise Critic's privately hired tour operator's vehicle had collided with another vehicle, then in an effort to separate the vehicles somehow pinned a pedestrian between the bus and a building wall.  Ow - that's gonna leave a mark!  As we sailed out into open water, the sea was fairly rough and just standing still became a challenge.  The joke onboard soon became one could easily tell the sober vs drunk passengers - drunks walked straight while the sober passengers weaved back and forth!

For dinner I had Classic French Onion Soup, Sliced Tomato, Red Onion And Heart Of Lettuce with Celebrity Dressing, Roasted Midwestern Pork Loin, broiled potatoes, mixed vegetables with (gasp) lima beans, and a cream puff pastry with hazelnut cream for dessert.  John had Caesar Salad, steak, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce..
