Where I stayed
We will be getting a camera soon even though they are a little dearer here (the only thing that is) as we do not want to miss anything.
I headed out to the night bazaar the night we got the apartment and found some copy dvd's for 100 Baht each (£2) and negotiated 7 for 520 Baht as we also have a dvd player in the apartment, I also invested in some better outdoor trainers and I can now walk for miles. There are stalls upon stalls of people selling cheap games films and watches as well as clothes, many of them are copies and dirt cheap but the police etc do not seem to care.
There is lot of poverty around that we can see but hardly any beggars, everyone has something to sell and they seem to work around the clock, tourists we are told are at a premium these days and the country is feeling the pinch. My trainers were first offered to me for around £25 which I bartered down to £18 then by walking along the stalls and quoting that they had the same trainers down there for say £15 they then match or better the price - I ended up getting them for £10 (they would be around £60+ in the UK) we also bought 2 backpacks mine a big big one cos I'm strong and Helens and even bigger one cos she is stronger :) Nooooooooo hers is smaller but both good quality, we paid about £27 for those I can't inmagine the price at home.
We are starting to think about coming home now what with it being so close, and with Helen recieving some upsetting news we are starting to miss the people a little more too, the job market does not look too bad for us with positions in Saudi and Europe (the sunny bits) appealing to us and even Oz has been mentioned but that can all wait a while............. We still have this to enjoy and we are off to a piano recital tonight and then I have a Thai cookery day on wednesday.................
Pictures hopefully to follow..
