I arrived in Kuta at night time and grabbed a taxi from the airport. It took me awhile to find a hostel, but I finally found one and dropped my bags off. I wandered around town for awhile and met some random strangers on the steps of a convenience store. We shared a beer and then I went back with them to their hotel. We went out that night to a great place called Apache Reggae Bar to listen to dance to some fantastic, live reggae music. Becca and Ari randomly showed up, but they quickly left for another bar. Later I went with my new friends to another bar called Bounty that was themed like a pirate ship. I danced into the early hours of the morning before crashing out.

The next day I woke up and rented a surf board from a really friendly local guy. After being pounded by the waves for several hours I retired to the beach to watch a beautiful sunset. I randomly bumped into Becca and Ari again and we decided to hang out for the night. We went out again that night to Bounty and danced again until the sun came up. Unfortunately my camera was stolen by a pickpocket at the club. It was already broken and I was planning on buying a new one, but I was really sad about losing the memory card. Nearly three months of pictures gone... I am learning things, often the hard way. This time the lesson learned is to always back up my photos. Luckily I have some photos uploaded to here and some on facebook, but I'm still bummed to lose many more. :(

I woke up the next morning and went surfing again. Catching a pattern? Dancing into the morning and surfing during the day seems to be what Kuta does best. That day on the beach I ran into my random friends from the first night. They informed me that they had been pickpocketed the same night as me at Bounty, but they caught the guy! My friend punched the guy and knocked out some teeth. Afterwards the bouncers threw him down some stairs and called the police. I guess he got what was coming to him but I still dont have my camera. The next day was Arielle's last so we got some dinner and went out again. I was pretty tired and went to bed early that night after watching some EuroCup soccer. When I say early I mean around 2am...
