With a further 14 days on our Thai visa we flew south to Phuket for the start of our beach time. You may not believe it but this travelling business is hard work and after almost five months of touring cities and making plans to see or do things every day we just wanted to relax and enjoy some sun time before heading back to the UK for our cold (and maybe white) Christmas.

Don't be fooled though we still had some major decisions to make every day:

1.       Which beach shall we go to?

2.       If I finish my book today is there a book exchange nearby?

3.       Should I have red curry for lunch and pad Thai for dinner or vice versa?

4.       What time shall I have a Thai massage?

5.       Shall I have my afternoon nap in a hammock or on the beach or in a hammock on the beach?

Once these problems were solved we spent our days enjoying Thailand’s Islands, walking along the beach, taking in the stunning sunsets, diving in Koh Haa for a day, snorkelling, eating too much good food, drinking tasty fruit shakes and becoming addicted to Thai massages (these are genuine massages – not with the Vietnamese 'Happy Ending’!!!!!).

We loved our time in Thailand so much we were forced to do another visa run.  After a couple of days in Langkawi Malaysia, (on the beach!), we headed back to Thailand for more island time on Koh Lipe (probably our favourite of all the islands we visited).

We couldn’t stay in Thailand forever (unfortunately) so before we had to do a third visa run we bode a sad farewell to the beach and left for Kuala Lumpur.

Your travel diary has been fascinating and the photos are great. I loved the accounts of your time with tigers and elephants. Hope you have a safe return to wintery England, and come back to Canada soon.

Best wishes, Carolyn
