Thinking we were most organised we called and booked our tickets in advance from Montreal to Quebec on the train.  They told us we had the last three tickets on the train.  We turned up, grabbed our tickets and checked our bags. Just as we were boarding the guard pointed to Michelles ticket and it wasnt valid! Michelle had to wait 4 hours for the next train. After some pointed comments about upgrading her Karly and I ran off to get those last two seats! Several hours later a tipsy Michelle texted to say she was esconsed in first class and being plied with free food and alchohol!

A days wandering around Quebec City has left Michelle and I rather red faced! Not used to the sun it snuck us and left us hoping for a tan out of this at least.

The city is quite cute and has, to my delight, a distinct lack of chain stores behind its walls.  We managed to wander the city walls, take a ferry over to nearby Levis and still fit in some shopping! We walked thru the citadel well hidden and up on the hills, prepared for all eventualities we were (except obviously the sun).  Dithering about going into the Royale Place museum we decided that it for $5 was worth a punt and found a dressing room of delights downstairs. Karly and I were amused for quite some time trying on the old style clothing (in sizes waaaay too large) whilst tired Michelle sat and took photos!

After walking around all day again we were absolutely buggered and stopped in the imposing Hotel Frotenac (a Fairmont hotel of course) which is supposed to be the worlds most photographed and dosed up on sugar to keep going. I found myself eating maple syrup creme brulee - verdict?? Like eating a bucket of sugra.  And of course we had help to keep the title of most photographed hotel going strong.

We are starting to look at each other in fear as tonight we get our first overnight train.. 11 hours of train is in our near future!
