Five of us checked in at the airport on Friday night to find our flight had been cancelled. Not ten minutes before Michelle and I had been saying "I've never had a flight cancelled before".. So somehow we found ourselves agreeing to some insane flight which flew from Vancouver to LA at 10pm (we checked in at 5.00).  We then stopped over in LA airport for six hours before we could get a flight to Vegas at 7am from LA, to arrive finally in Vegas at 9am.

We spent many an hour lurking around both Vancouver and LA airports waiting for shops to open in an attempt to kill the boredom.  We watched shops close in our faces and managed to escape LA airport for a 3am run to Denny's. Denny's at 3am is quite the experience. People go to Denny's (its like Pizza Hut) at this time it would seem to drink more or end a hard night out.

No sleep and hours later we arrived in Vegas at 9am and had to run straight to our spa appointments (tough life), stinking with no luggage off the carousel yet (the boys stayed to get it for us) Michelle making jokes about how "I've never had luggage lost before".
I came out of the spa hours later to find that our luggage was lost! It finally turned up at 4pm with one bag missing, thankfully not mine.  It arrived the next day.  After this incident we began to wonder about Michelle's witching powers, she seemed pretty unimpressed with our suggestion that she not speak for the rest of the trip though! We ended up with no change of clothes for something like 34 hours, and no sleep for 41 hours!
We had booked in to see Blue Man Group that night and I ended up dozing off a few times, Blue Man Group not really my thing and sleep so needed. Later in the week we saw Mama Mia which was lots more fun, and definitely worthy of seat dancing.

The Mandalay Bay is a huge and rather nice resort.  Pools, Spas, Shops, Casino (obviously!), restaurants, bars, clubs, aquarium, shows, shops. You name it, I didn't have to pay for it - thanks to Andrew and his miracle of comping everything. It was a shock to head to life outside the resort and have to pay for things. Blank stare from me when people asked for cash, I kept trying to sign for things! One restaurant where we racked up a huge bill had a four story high wine tower, accessible to wait staff by a special wine lift
Went to one of the bars, the House of Blues where they have this thing called "Rock Star Karaoke" where you sing to a live band! cool! we put our names down but the list was too long and its only on once a week. boooo!
We also went to the Mandalay bay spa and the bathhouse, shame they don't have a photo of the bath you get to use. Its huge, whirlpool with mud treatment in it. private room, candlelit - you can imagine I loved it (knowing how I love a bath!). They took a look at my skin (after no sleep) at the spa and suggested I get Collagen treatment! I was of course no way (and how rude!) but turns out it was some facemask with collagen in it. So I got it - have yet to see any affects though!
We also went to Shark Reef (aquarium) and the Beach where we 'hired' a Cabana and they have a wave pool and lots of other pools. including one with slow moving water where you can sit in a tube and float around and go under waterfalls!

I'm afraid I may be spoiled for all future hostelling trips.
