We stopped at the very beautiful Lake Louise on the way to Banff. This is one of the places I had been meaning to go to since I even thought I might come to Canada so it was great to get there, and see that its just as pretty as the pictures look!

In Banff we went on a two hour horse ride along the Bow River which again was beautiful.  The Rockies are something else and all the waters are a beautiful green colour. We rode along the Bow River and at the end of the ride found some deer playing baseball. I would have challenged them to a game but was busy remembering the meaning of the word "saddlesore" as I had been stuck behind a slow horse and we had to keep trotting to catch up to the rest of the group. Ow.

Had to go and drown our sorrows in a bar, in true cowgirl style. Only problem was we found ourselves in an Irish Bar and 29 year old Irish Carmels ID was refused. I cant figure out if she was flattered or just annoyed at being kept from her beer.

No doubt she was consoled the next day when we were wandering down the main street and met that rare Canadian creature - a Mountie. He happily chatted and posed for pictures and we ran away giggling with glee at it all. It didnt quite make up for not seeing a bear in the mountains but a girls got to take what she can get!
