On Saturday morning I flew into Shannon airport with a vague idea of what to do and a vague street map, but as we were driving (hurray a car!) i wasnt too worried. The very friendly, very irish guy who drove us to our car (im sure they just hired him as he was so irish) asked what we were going to do and I saw a sign pointing to Limerick so I answered Limerick!
Limerick isnt that exciting a city, but is on the river so thats always nice. We had a look around an old castle and found a dead pidgeon. I then spent the entire weekend convincing Adrian that he had to write me a limerick, as we had been to Limerick. At the very end he came up with something that involved my eyes being as big as pies.
We then drove on with a mind to stopping at Ennis, which somehow we managed to miss so we headed for the Cliffs of Moher, very cliffy. As you walk up the path to the cliffs there are a few buskers playing the flute, making it all very irish. Eating breakfast on Sunday morning under a cloudy grey sky the lady of the place where we were staying looked out the window and said "oh its going to be a lovely day today". Another girl and i stared at each other in bewilderment, thinking this old lady is nuts! It turns out that there was something on the horizon indicating sunshine, it rained most of the day. We kept driving around and stopped at a couple of spots on the way to Galway, which was also an unexciting city, is supposed to have great nightlife but we didnt see too much of that at 10am on Sunday morning!
So we headed back to Ennis, and found it this time. A quaint little town, we wandered around an old monastery and then hid out from the rain in this great little pub with an open fire and dim lighting. More thumbnails ...
