Another missed flight (we swear it wasn't our fault) meant a long wait around the airport and a 40 fee to get on the next flight.. Each time we miss something were sure its the last time..

When we finally made it to Dublin we headed off to our hostel. Rather coolly (we thought) it used to be a Nuns convent, though on arrival it just looked like a hostel.

A trip to the Guinness factory meant a pint of Guinness at the finish. I'm not a fan of Guinness but a rumour had been persisting that Guinness is better the less it travels. Testing (or tasting) this theory at the top of the factory, overlooking the skyline of Dublin, I can agree. Maybe its just because everyone told me it tasted better but somehow it did. So I've had my fill of Guinness vitamins (for life) and don't need to again.

At Trinity College they have the Book of Kells. Tracey tells me that this travelled to Australia (to Canberra) several years ago and she went down to see it, so I didn't need to go all this way to check it out, but an excuse to travel to Dublin vs an excuse to travel to Canberra? Hmm. I know which one id choose. The Book of Kells is a beautiful book from the 6th Century AD. A link from its website tells it better than I could
"The detail in the Book of Kells is amazing, with no one symbol duplicated elsewhere in the book. In one spot there are over 158 lacings of a white ribbon contained in a square inch and nowhere can there be found an error by the artist, even after searching with a magnifying glass. It is no wonder that for many years, it was believed that only angels could only have written the Book of Kells."

On the way back to the airport we waited for our airport bus, and waited and waited. We werent the only ones waiting and at one point another bunch of tourists yelled at a passing busdriver. We ended up getting another bus to a different bus stop, and just as we got there the airport bus pulled up so we ran on that and happily avoided missing another flight!

One missed flight
