A few hours outside of Tokyo is pretty little Nikko. We arrive just in time to watch the typhoon take over the town. Instead of huddling inside and being warm and dry we put on tiny little raincoats and wander the town in the typhoon. We got wet. I'm sure we looked a site wandering around in our bright yellow, cheap, almost useless, raincoats. I wore no shoes because in the end, it was just easier. The dry and quiet temple must have appreciated these wet morons showing up on their doorstep, we tried to not drip everywhere but i'm not sure we were that successful.

Nikko is also home to the famed carving of the see no hear no speak no monkeys. And seemingly home also to the foreign mega star. Living in Japan you get used to the looks of interest but Nikko was something else. Autographs requested, lots of posing (can we take your picture) in one case superstar Tracey even got her picture (with random Japanese family) posted to her. I'm sure its our strong resemblance to various supermodels that caused this..
