We crossed the border on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 11:25 am, much later than our original plan. We crossed at the bridge in Pharr, and have since decided we will use the Hidalgo bridge next time. It is closer and less expensive. We were delayed in Texas for three months due to our accident in Dallas. Now the motorhome is fixed and we are continuing our winter adventure.

Our first stop is outside of Monterrey, where we met up with Chris and Juan, a couple that we have seen on the internet for a few years but never ran into. Bill contacted them and they graciously welcomed us to Mexico. They arranged for us to stay at the Campestre Monte Sur for the night where we were able to plug into electricity.

It was great to finally meet Chris and Juan, we had an enjoyable evening discussing traveling in Mexico and our RV experiences. It seemed like we had already met them, and hope to see them again. Maybe this summer they will be able to visit us in Michigan, they are taking a five month trip to the US and Canada this year.

Overnight the snow came down. We waited three months to get to warmer weather and our first night out it snowed. We have never seen snow in Mexico before except on top of the mountains in the far distance. It is a good thing we had electricity so we could run the furnace all night.

We waited until 10 am to leave, we wanted the roads to be clear and dry, and they were. We planned to take a curvy picturesque road in the mountains, but, were afraid it might be slippery. We went back to Monterrey and on to Durango.
