Show trip route
Anyhooo we found the main entrance to the MGM Grand and valet parked the car, we knew we wouldn't be able to check in to the new room, but I needed to make my way to the Hard Rock which is back off the strip.
A quick cab ride and I was there, the Will Call window was easy to find as was open, so after a check of my ID I was given my tickets, cage side as I had booked in oz.
While I was wandering around the halls of the Hard Rock I bumped into Shane Carwin and his girlfriend, he was supposed to fight Roy Nelson but damaged his knee in training
We lined up and entered at 2pm, my seat was right in the front, the perfect vantage point to see all the action, and just to my right was the FX check station, which is where they check the fighters to make sure they have mouth guards in, so a great spot to catch them before they enter the cage
The action began at around 2:30 pm as it was live television it needed to be run like a watch, there was no messing around the fights began and run pretty much continuously, it was awesome, just like watching it on TV but with way more atmosphere, the people sitting either side of me were great and we ended up buying each other rounds of Bud, I was having a ball.
All the big name guys were around me, like Mike Kampfman, Melvin Gillard, Chuck Liddell, and I even saw Georges Rush Saint Pierre.
There is something about a live show that you miss on the big screen and I am glad I came, the people sitting next to me had spent $600 per ticket so my $300 was good, I really enjoyed the night and when it finished, I had no voice left from all the cheering I did.
A cab was out of the question as everyone else had the same idea, so I legged it the couple of k's back to the MGM to find Jodie and Jordana sitting in the lobby, it seems they wouldn't allow her to check into the rom as she did not make the booking..bloody idiots, I let the guy checking us in have it both barrels, said I was disappointed to say the least, I asked to speak to the manager and she apologised and gave me the usual lip service, however she did remove a daily room charge for Internet, so we were happy with that.
We are moving to a new room tomorrow which has views of the strip but for 1 night we will have to suffer at the back of the hotel as it is fully booked due to the cowboy show that is on, thankfully they all go home tomorrow to go and do what ever a middle aged fat bloke in a cowboy had and an enormousness belt buckle dose.
