Hello! I have finally gotten a chance to tell you about my arrival in Berlin! I woke up around 7:00 am to make sure I had everything I needed for my trip. Since I had to be cautious on what exactly I had to bring, I checked out what weather might be like for the week. Quite a disappointment it was really... It was going to be raining everyday! About 44-50 degrees though, which isn't very bad. I packed every necessity...Toothbrush, Clothes (Nothing too warm/cold since weather was mild), Umbrella, etc. I'm pretty sure I fit my life in those bags. By 9:30 I was done checking bags and headed out to the Airport. I made it to the airport by 10:15, which was pretty early since my flight was at 10:55. I took that time to pretty much get baggage settled, get some breakfast, and relax before my flight. (I have always been afraid of flying) My flight was in LOT-Polish Airlines, which was pretty scary. I was pretty much paranoid the whole time about landing and how life might be in Berlin, but after the first stop it wasn't so bad anymore. I arrived at a Berlin Airport 7:00 pm of the next day, and was pretty exhausted already. I had booked a hotel in advance which was part of the flight package (This package included a rented car to pick me up.), so I was well on my way to "Hotel Berlin, Berlin," a 701 room 4-star Berlin Hotel. I have to say so far everything was absolutely beautiful. The first thing I noticed was the Kurfurstendamm shopping boulevard, which was too amazing to describe in words. My room was just perfect. I had everything I needed plus more, which seemed to go greater than my expectations. The best part of the room was the magnificent view of the Potsdamer Platz. It couldn't get any better than that. After I was fully settled I completely knocked out.
Although this was obviously a luxury trip, I still made sure I had a lot of money saved so I don't have any problems. At this point I had only spent $2,450, for just the flight (Which also took care of my flight going back to Chicago.), the rented vehicle (Which by the way: came with a driver!), and the hotel. I now have $7,550 for anything from visiting Berlin sights, restaurants, etc. I hope I don't spoil myself. This week is going to be unforgettable! Aufwiedersehen! -- Irmgard.
