Checked out this morning to head to Yosemite (home of Yogi Bear!).  Stopped at Artesa winery which was on a hill, so provided pretty views of the Napa valley.  Some specatcular views of mountains along the way.  We had been taking the "rock slide" signs that we had been seeing with a grain of salt, but we passed an area of road where about 500m of the road had to be bypassed because it was covered with a mound of rock from a slide.  Just past the slide, we hit our first minor snag of the trip - flat tyre!  Gotta own up, I was driving!  Anyway we had to pull over and change it.  In Australia, you would have had someone pull over and ask if you were ok.  Here, we had at least 20 cars pass us, one pulled over a little distance up apparently to watch the show, but no-one approached us.  We were also in a place where we had no cell phone reception..  But, all good in the end! Arrived at the hotel and checked in.  Our room has a balcony which overlooked the river and had views of the mountains.  We had pizza and wine for dinner.. mmmmm.  $40 bottle of Cab Sav, plus pizza.. not exactly classy, but who cares!  No wireless here either, but we ARE in a national park :)
