we made it to mexico after about 36 hours of travel from england, thanks to a long wait in LAX for the next flight.   since we were so wiped out, we decided to take  an extra day here at the beach to hang out.  it is hot and humid here in puerta vallarta!  we poor alaskans canīt handle the heat!!!

south of the river cuale, the town is much different than the vallarta that we both remember.   this is the cheaper part of town and seems also to be where the local central americans would come to vacation.  just as nice, but a little less americanized and ritzy.

we have both forgotten about the touts!!  only 2 days and jason is already losing his mind over not having a quiet moment without saying no, gracias to someone trying to sell us something.   bargaining is not something he enjoys either, evidently.  so i have a hat and jason doesnīt.

the other thing i should comment on is my apparent lack of spanish words!!!   how much one can forget using eskimo and not spanish for 8 years while in alaska.   jason on the other hand, speaks much better than he let on.

tomorrow we head inland to guadalajara and beyond.   hugs.

36 hours
You would have to carry me to the beach after that. However, I am sure you made a quick recovery.

Miss you
I finally got signed up, but on the Saturday you left...I called your cell and left a message stating how I already missed you and wish you safe travels. I am glad that your trip around the world has officially begun with your 'round the world tickets' from London. Can't wait to hear your voices again.

Beach? or Termination Dust?
Termination dust finally hit late last week. It's been staying up about 5000 ft on the back peaks.

Let Jason know I didn't get a moose. Not in Fairbanks, Healy, Petersville, Hope, Eklutna or at Pt McKenzie. Seems the long warm weather (55-60dg) has delayed the rut. The season ended yesterday so I can't hunt your property. Darn...always next year.

FYI: Kim's running the Tuesday night series with me. Yahoo. This weeks was in the rain, mud and wind up at Hilltop Ski area. That chick was out over an hour and was smiling to the finish. Thank God she's healthy again.

Have fun. We're liking your posts...

Hey Crazies!!
I'm happy to see your words and hear of your adventures! I know that Irene is leaving all the good stuff out about snagging her backpack and doing a face plant in the Tube, etc, etc. (It's much more entertaining if I just imagine it, because I've actually seen it in action. I can't help but smiling...) So, that said, I'm loving the TRASH out of this and it's almost as good as being there!! Except for REALLY missing the cervesa, guacamole but not so much the B.O. after backpacking for several days in warm climes without showers. Also, I think I'd actually need an alpaca to carry my stuff and my ETOH. I'm not a big sweater. You might want to invest if you're not able to wash the stink off by month 6. Just a suggestion from an outsider looking in.
Be safe and remember to use a Lady Bic every so often Irene. I can't have you turning into a Yeti...
Be SAFE! xo-rj
