Of all these places, we liked the 7 Mile Beach in Negril the most - the water was the warmest and the bluest, the sand was the softest and the whitest...and so, having spent there a week in August 2011, we decided to return in 2012...we were planning this well in advance, and so we hoped that our collective children and their significant others could join us there...they all are actually much fun to be around, and we thought it would be a great idea to hang out all together on the beach...eventually though only Alexandra (Sasha-the-girl) and her boyfriend Neno could make it...we shall demand the rain checks from the rest! :)
Sasha and Neno landed in Montego Bay airport just a few minutes before us, and we happened to run into each other while waiting for the passport control...we rode together to our resort in Negril and happened to stay in the same building at the resort as well...we also stayed close together on the beach, went to all the meals together, took the snorkeling trips, catamaran and glass-bottom boat rides together...I think the only thing we didn't do with them was parasailing - we did some parasailing a long time ago in Mexico and didn't feel like doing it again...other than that - we were hanging out with them all the time...I hope we didn't bore them too much, but they make an easy and enjoyable company, and we had a lot of fun together...
So, the company was great, the beach - as gorgeous as ever, the weather - sunny, the water - clear and warm, the "Bob Marley" shots - strong and plentiful...what else could you possibly want from a sea-side vacation?...the only 'downside' is that the time flies too fast...but I shouldn't complain!
During the day we snorkeled off the beach, and swam, and just floated in the water on those big mattress-like floats provided by the resort...Neno (and sometimes Sasha) played volleyball on the beach...my angel played checkers with Neno at the bar...Sasha and I took long walk on the beach...one evening we went on a leisurely catamaran cruise...the catamaran eventually "parked" near some nature-made caves in the rocks not far from the shore, and we were riding a water slide straight into the sea, and swimming to the caves, and having fun in the water...
Several times we went snorkeling to the coral reef...one of these times the waves were so big that all the snorkeling boats after ours were canceled for the day...but other times the water was calm and pleasant...I hear that snorkeling in Jamaica is not as good as in, say, Bahamas or Mexico, but we saw enough and can't complain...we even did a private night-time snorkeling excursion with a guide...two guides, actually - one was leading our little group of four, and another was swimming behind...they gave us powerful lamps to use under water, and the shadows cast by the lamps made me think of sharks...it was an interesting experience, even though I still prefer snorkeling during sunlight...
All in all - it was a nice and relaxing week...the company was great, and we all had fun...will we return to Jamaica? - maybe...or maybe not...we are contemplating back to Mexico next year, or maybe back to the Dominican Republic...but we shall see...
