For the last hour I got a seat and the view from my window looked very enticing, palm trees! Santa Maria is only 1,400 meters above sea level so itīs a bit more tropical that Iīd been used to recently. Bring on the sun and heat, I love it.
I decided that my stomach was well enough again and got tucked into a good bit of food that I`d been missing over the last few days. We sat there deciding how to get to Machu Picchu. There was the option of a bus at 4am the next morning to Santa Teresa, however the walk with a guide sounded far more appealing, even if it still meant an early start
The plan all came crashing down for me though as it became obvious that things still weren`t right with my stomach and in the end I was forced to stay put, exactly where I was, saying goodbye to my short lived friends in the morning.
At least I was now in a nice place to recover. I headed straight down the the only Doctor/Pharamsist in town to discover that he was away somewhere for the day and had shut up shop. At least he did have the decency to open up again after his little day away. He gave me some little orange and some little red tablets to take, thanks to the power of the internet I was able to check exactly what they were and decided that they'd be fine to take.
So I then sat around for the next couple of days in town, just enjoying the ambiance of the place, It was nice whenever I went for my dinner as I became a regular there and the woman would stop and chat each time. A really nice town with some really nice people.
When I was better I organised a walk up to Santa Teresa taking a guide, it was just going to be the two of us on the walk which suited me right down to the ground.
