Today was a pretty bad weather day.  We got to the beach town as everyone had suggested and couldn't wait to relax at the beach and just hang out.  We've been travelling by bus for way too long and just want to chill for a couple of days.

We wake up and it's looking pretty gloomy... hmmm... may be all days start like that....I happily put on a swimming trunk and get out to the pool and lay out.  I look at the sky and there is one spot of sun on one beach chair. I grab it pretty quickly and ahhhh...I am open my book to read and look up again to see the sun disappearing behind some clouds...Hmmmm... again may be this is normal.  "Hey Ian, is it a little chilly or is it just me??" Ian says:" I can see the sun, just be patient a bit!" ok, ok... that I can do.

I keep on looking up at the sky and nothing's happening.  Two hours later...I am hungry and tell Ian that we should leave the pool for a bit and grab a bite to eat.  We flip flop ourselves out of the hotel and go to a restaurant on the beach.  We start ordering and we see the waiters having this anxious look on their faces.  What's the deal??  They keep on looking at each other with furrowed brows and then someone gives a sign and all of a sudden all the waiters start bringing the tables indoor.  ??huh??  What about our lunch?

When our soups arrive, it started sprinkling. By the time our meal is on the table, it's pouring outside!  Everyone is running to get cover. The waiters are all yelling at each other and it's a mad house.  We gulp down our food and when the bill arrives, the waiter tells us :" We have never seen a weather like this here, ever!"  Ok, that doesn't sound too promissing.  I ask him if he knows what the weather is like tomorrow and with a waive of his hands and big words, he says:" It's raining, raining, raining...." Great......

We are running with our flip flops under the rain to take cover and we end up in an internet cafe. What better place to take cover? We go in like wet noodles and take up a computer and start checking our emails. Outside, it's pouring rain like I have never seen it before. People are running, cars are splashing everyone around, thunder, lightning, it's crazy!  We try to forget about the outside and concentrate on our emails.  It's getting a little too cold even inside the cafe.  In the midst of an email I was writing, we hear this big thunder, I shiver and the whole cafe goes dark.  What here too??  All the computers shut off and it's complete darkness.  The owners run to get candles and all of a sudden we are all huddled around a little red candle. We step outside to look around and see that the streets have flooded and that you can't cross any street anymore without boots. I look down at my flimsy flip flops, shudder and hug myself a little tighter.

I look up and see a Turkish dude from the top of his balcony filling up buckets of water from his terrace and throwing it over the railing with no regards of who is underneath him.  One bucket, two buckets, three.....I can hear his mumbling from way below where I am standing.  I look up above me just to make sure that I don't have another wacko above my head!!!

The power comes back on and we run to a movie theater to kill time.  We come back home urgh... the hotel, around 10 PM and put some warm sweats on and cuddle up in our comfy bed.

First beach day... not too successful. Let's hope for a better one tomorrow.
