rain rain rain
seemingly the unofficial trademark of our little roadtrips. though i have a fascination with rain and prefer cooler climates so i didnt view it in a negative way but nathan did. Nathan wasn't a fan of the display of weather yet i was unconcerned rain never stopped me from enjoying myself and it wasnt going to now.

after temporarily losing our bearings we were headed in the right direction to the blue mountains. the road was marked with sporadic signs indicating "when frosty" with a picture of a car skidding on the road. although i was very aware at how real a prospect such a sign forewarned i couldnt help but find the imagery hilarious. my biggest regret was not taking a photo of one of the signs. As you ascend higher up the mountains each town indicates how high up you are, something that wasnt actually felt until we were halfway to Blackheath where we were staying.
we were staying at a little b & b called Kalima - my first time doing so. i must admit i wasnt all to keen on the idea to begin with. although i had delayed our arrival at the b & bby detouring us to Evan' s lookout. a few random people where about but for the most part it was desolate. the air was icy , the rain temporarily ceasing alowing us to take a wander round. the views were amazing and made one feel small and out of place.

Afterwards we checked into the b & b and met the owners who were a lovely friendly married couple. our room had its own private access which was much to my relief as i wasnt a fan of the idea of trapsing through the house everytime to get to our room.
B & B's have an extremely intimate feel to them , a calm , cosy vibe which any of form of accommodation i have stayed at was void of.our room was immaculate and had its own access to the back courtyard. B & B (inside) we stayed at

the weather implied we bunk down and watch dvd's but i wanted to get in the car and pick a direction and drive. that direction ended up leading us to Jenolan Caves. along the way we stopped off at Mt Inspiration lookout a popular rest stop for those visiting Jenolan Caves. It took consideralbly longer than i first imagine it would as i always assumed the caves were realtively close to the Blue Mountains but not so much.

From Mt Inspiration lookout it wasnt long til we arrived at Jenolan Caves. The entrancejust about took my breath away. a giant blue lake was to our left. this picturesque entrance was ruined moments later when we drove through the giant cave that doubled as the Entrance to find swarms of tourists and tourist coaches everywhere.
we contemplated taking a tour but our indecisiveness saw to that we didnt instead opting to walk the track around the blue lake (the name is an understatement). we then proceeded to walk through one of the self guided cave tours and ended up at Carlotta's Arc. we ended up doing alot fo walking and ended up really high watching people absailing..i thought it was quite random especially given where we were.
