Well, we could have built a snowman if there was more snow. San Carlos de Bariloche is a winter wonderland kind of gig and all we could really see to do apart from trekking into the gorgeous snow-dusted mountains is to eat chocolate and drink Argentine wine. The skiing is not happening at the moment.
Of course the restaurant we wanted to try from our old Lonely Planet was non-existant but we found somewhere better. I tried some wild boar jabali for dinner at a decent restaurant in town called ¨Familia Weiss¨. The tasty pork dish is a lakes district specialty and in this case was served with apple sauce and rasberry syrup. Nadine ate a flavoursome beef stew. The wine of choice was a Malbec again and we are officially in training for the Mendoza vineyards mission. We browsed the numerous chocolate shops. Most of the stores were completely stocked for Easter and overflowing with goodies. There were even chocolate cars and mobile phones for sale. We like the con leche en rama that is like a Flake bar made in Australia.
We have seen many jugglers in Argentina, lots of hippies overall actually. The most common juggler is the one who stand on a pedestrian crossing at traffic lights and juggle balls, scarves, pins or even fire machetes in the hope of catching the motorists loose change too.
We have a long bus trip to Mendoza tomorrow so we are going to bed early at The Tango Inn Downtown where we are sharing a 12 bed dorm with drunken disorderly 20 year old girls, sleep not.
