Caught the local bus yesterday to the border town of Sixaola with the Canadians who raided the Tabacon Hot Springs Buffet with us. After stamping out of Costa Rica we walked across a dodgy railway bridge to immigration in Panama. I wondered if you dropped your passport of the bridge into the water while in this limbo stretch of space would you be stuck on the bridge forever, between the two countries? We got a tourist card. We took a taxi to Changuinola and waited for a water taxi speed boat to drive us over to the Archipelago de Bocas Del Toro via narrow canals.
Bocas Del Toro Provence is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, the Carribean sea to the north, Chiriqui Province to the south and Veragus Province to the east. Isla Colon where we are staying has a slow-paced community made up of mostly English and patois-speaking people of West Indian ancestory.
We were greeted by a friendly Rasta who helped us to fling a good hotel, Mondo Taitu. This old house seemed to hold a lot of people. It`s a funky house filled with nooks and crannies and has things like free tandem bikes and beach toys. Israelis were hogging the kitchen.
We fell asleep for two hours then awoke to the sound of a messy party. The bar downstairs was filled with people. Happy hour consisted of 50cent beers, $1 rums, beer bongs (that dick American spring break funnel and hose contraption) and things like tequila lay backs. This was most definitely a party hostel and we were not to get any sleep here. We see some random behaviour going on in hostels. At Rocking J`s Hostel someone actually crapped in the shower....... feral. Luckily we took a room not a dorm, not that it mattered because we didn`t sleep anyway due to the all night happy hour. We joined the masses and got onto white Russians. We were given an address for some psytrancers from Argentina who have invited us to stay with them in Buenas Aires. Next we hopped a water taxi over to another island to got to a Reggae party at Aqua Lounge, a funky bar and hotel with a dance floor, trampoline out in the water and swimming section around the bar built over the water on decks. We danced all night and talked bollocks with people from all over the place. The music was a little too hip hopping for our tastes.
We got in at 4:30am and had booked a snorkeling tour for 9:00am. Bugger!
