Upon rising i resisted the temptation to slide down the firemans pole and wake all those partying bastards up from last nite. We caught an easy bus to Cobano to change buses to get to Montezuma, a laid back surfie village near the southwestern tip of the peninsula and popular with travellers who enjoy the mellow atmosphere, fuelled partly by fairly liberal consumption of marijuana.

We immediately checked into Hotel Lhys on the beach with a creative arty vibe and cruisy owners who fire dance. We trekked down the street and ate organic food at a cafe. I bought some sunglasses because we lost a pair and they are absolutely necessary. The sun is hot and glaring. I am trying to buy some swimwear because mine are really just for sitting in the sun, tanning and tend to fall off you in the sea. The problem with this elusive purchase is that the only cuts of bikini they make here are Brazilian or g-strings and there is no way i am strutting down the beach, no matter how laid back the place is, in a thong.......... not going to happen.

We met another fabulous jewellery maker who used to be a shoe maker. This guy was a brilliant leather worker and we picked up a couple of gorgeous arm cuffs with stones in them, superb. After witnessing this work we were inspired to add to my rock collection which is really just about picking up unique rocks and stashing them in zip seal bags. I wonder if i will get all these feathers and rocks through customs in OZ.

Later we trekked over a crazy looking trail of rock hopping and slippery slopes to the waterfalls for a swim...... very impressive they were and even more impressive was the discovery that a blind man with walking cane and rubber shoes had made it to the falls with his friends help. This guy was good and the friends told us that he even skies and climbs mountains. WOW! Amazing people. We took the wrong trail back and ended up sliding on our sore from bike riding arses down some hairy slopes with rocks and tree roots.

We have booked the water boat straight from the beach via the ocean to Jaco at 6:30am. This trip costs $30 but saves us backtracking and losing a day on travel.

We had a dinner of simple pizzas and rum with Dutch Carolyna (from the ferry). Nadine had some jewellery custom made using obsedian stone (volcanic rock) then crashed out in a hammock while i chatted to an English couple. Carolyna taught us some salsa then went into town to find a real dancing partner. There was a host at the hotel making fresh ravioli in a pasta maker for hours, i think he was stoned, there was alot of love in that pasta. We would have loved to stay to create an arty piece for the hotel, they like people to create there and teach jewellery making, weaving etc. Our room was small but had a fan and we could hear the ocean lapping close by outside the room.
