The drive from Rakchham to Kalpa took much longer than it ought to have, thanks to the horrendous condition of the non existent road between Karchham and Powari.  This is supposed to be National Highway No.22!

By the time we reached our hotel the HPTDC Kinner Kailash at Kalpa, it was pouring torrentially with no view whatsoever, let alone of the mighty KK range.  The Gods were kind though and we were rewarded with a magnificent  view of the holy mountains at dawn the next day.

Kalpa is a village in the mountains, surrounded by orchards of apple, apricot, almond and more.  Apricot blossoms were in full bloom when we were there.
