Some more photos from a morning walk at the Byculla zoo - 27 March 2011.  The lagerstroemias had not yet burst into flower, they must surely have bloomed by now [6/4].

Very rare Strophanthus boivinii tree - only one reported in India.  The mali at the zoo nursery has propagated a few more from seed.


Sunbird on firecrackers - Firmingia colorata


Amherstia nobilis - on the wane, though the big tree in the enclosed compound of the superintendent of gardens is still going strong.


Tiny little flowers of Theobroma cacao - hard to believe that a heavy cocoa pod emanates from this!
