Another leisurely Sunday morning walk through Bombay's best botanical gardens - the Byculla zoo!  Spring is most definitely in the air, with new leaves sprouting on all but the baobab trees.

The Amherstia Nobilis trees are still in bloom, though not as profuse as earlier.  Brownea Coccinea is at its best.  A lot of the shrubs and hedgerows have been drastically pruned and do not look very happy.  An ominous sign is the increased drilling and surveying activity - a portend of things to come in the redevelopment project for the zoo, which has now got government sanction.  I hope they do not destroy the existing flora.  The solitary Strophanthus Boivinii tree, perhaps the only one in India, does not look very healthy.  Worse, there are visible signs of branches having been broken off....
