Bombay Port Trust Gardens Colaba

After enjoying the full bloom of several rare species the previous day at the zoo, we decided to see what was flowering at the Bombay Port Trust Gardens at Colaba. 
 
It was a bit of a let down compared to the zoo, in the sense that many more species of more mature trees and shrubs were in bloom at the zoo.  The Port Trust horticultural department has spared no effort to create a first class botanical garden on former wasteland at Colaba, but obviously the Zoo enjoys the distinct ambience of heritage. 
 
Besides, the zoo is full of pretty birds [uncaged] whereas the BPT Gardens is mired by the cacophonous call of crows - who undoubtedly find it an ideal resting spot in between their forays to the neighbouring Sassoon Docks fish market!
