It started with a simple brochure.  How about a trip to Peru and a train trip to Machu Picchu I said to my husband Al.  Harrumph said Al as he scanned the brochure.  Handing back the brochure Al said he would only be interested in the trip if we did the Inca Trail hike into Machu Picchu.  Taking back the brochure I read: four day hike, straight up a mountainside, at high altitude, sleep in tents, no showers and lots and lots of HIKING! Well I'll have to think about that I thought.

Before I know it I have agreed to the hike, we are cleaning out our basement, setting up fitness equipment, hanging out in wilderness equipment stores and hiking every weekend.

It seemed so far away when we planned the trip - our adventure of a lifetime.  Lots of time to get into we leave in a few days - I hope we are both ready!!
