Where I stayed
After all the wet we had yesterday today starts warm and sunny. We head to the Botanical Gardens located right next to our hotel - every city here seems to have botanical gardens here and they are all lovely. Oaks, sequoias, and over 1500 roses in this one. We soon discover a walk along the sea, the wind is whipping pretty good here but the views are wonderful.
We stroll back along the harbour and decide what to do. Today there are street musicians and a big artisan market in the main square which interests me, Al would like to do the steamboat cruise on the TSS Earnslaw so we part ways and pick a rendezvous point for later in the morning.
I get my souvenir shopping done before he returns, spend time talking to some of the local artists and find the gelato stand. The favorite flavor here is called hokey pokey - I call it heaven! I scout out some places for lunch and we decide on Thai for lunch , yummy. The beach scene has really picked up this afternoon as it is now quite hot, bikinis are everywhere on the beach (and so are Al's eyes). A lot is happening on the Main Street and we stop to enjoy some Scottish pipers, Al is amused to see so many different ethnic peoples playing the pipes (everyone loves a piper). We finish our day off on the boardwalk close to our hotel , having discovered the best Fish and Chip stand. We both agree that Queenstown (even without doing the bungy jumping) has been one of our favorite spots ..
