I decided to scrap the trek to Golden Gate Bridge today on account of feeling rather ill and instead caught up with Dave from Perth. We meet at his hostel near china town and grabbed an amazing vegan tofu burger thing from a little deli. We sat on the steps of a nearby church and swapped travel stories, compared our plans for the upcoming weeks and admired the colourful yet psychologically unstable local folk.
When I got to SF I was told about a website called 'Free and Cheap SF' where I found a free Swing dancing class that was being held in Union Square downtown. I arrived on my own but was instantly taken onto the dance floor by one of the dancers who was, thankfully, forgiving of my lack of swing dance experience (I've done rockabilly and rock and roll but never Swing). I had a chat and a dance with the gentleman who was teaching the class who explained to me some of the differences between different dance styles and how they differ around the world. He also gave me some great recommendations for swing/rockabilly dancing throughout the USA and the UK. Hoorah!
The sun setting and tired from dancing I took the train back to the house where I was treated to home made fish tacos made by Teresa and Mike. Awesome!
