After an extremely deep 14 hour sleep, I jumped out of bed and got amongst it. The taxi-ride from the airport up to Gros Islet gave me a crash course (almost literally) in St Lucian road etiquette, so I walked down the road with caution. After exploring Rodney Bay (the site of Freddie Flintoffs 'pedalo' incident) and being offered some weed by a nice man called Lazarus, I explored the local beach and played beach cricket with some locals. I walked through the shanty fishing village of Gros Islet amid stoned Rastas wanting to chat, and yells of 'heey buddy, come over ere, mah sistr wants to talk to yeh!'.
I checked out the old English/French fort on Pigeon Island, and I could see Martinique and Mount Pelee to the north amid the rainclouds. The island consisted of two volcanic cones rising out of the ocean, with a stone fort on the lower peak, and signal mount on the higher
I strolled back through Gros Islet, was offered some more weed, but elected to drink a few Piton beers at the local tin shed/cafe, complete with goats and chickens. A bit of a squall has come over, so I'm holed up at a restaraunt on Rodney Bay Marina, drinking beers with some Dutch backpackers.
Tomorrow, to Castries...

. Upon catching my breath at the signal mount, I pulled out my guidebook to find that the hill was only 104 metres high. Gros Piton, the volcanic peak to the south I plan to climb in a few days, is 740 metres high! dude
Sounds great. So far I like the triple whopper meal story the best. See if you can get a quadriple cheeseburger meal to beat it. Dont eat it before climbing that hill though.
What do their sisters want to talk about? Maybe The Cricket. Still, go to be better convo than the goats and chickens (unless the animals go for Pakistan).
Thats what I like about these Carribean girls. I get older, they stay the same aids.
ooooh poor form.
The cricket grounds pretty much look like Woodstock on the telly, but with less mud. Party On!
