Hola Amigos,

We had our first game of the season on March 21st in Budapest.  We started the day off meeting at our stadium at 5:15 in the morning to catch a 2 hour shuttle to Stuttgart Germany.  We caught a 1 1/2 hour flight to Budapest and and then a 30 minute drive to the stadium.

It was our first game of the year so we had no idea what to expect.  We have about 15 new guys on our team and a majority of those guys are starters.  The game started out pretty ugly.  There were a lot of penalties by both teams so but we were able to jump out to a quick 14 - 0 lead.  It was 21 - 0 before they finally got on the board but that was all they were able to get.  We ended up winning the game 39 - 7.   We did have a couple of injuries that were not as serious as first expected.  2 knee injuries, 1 to our american WR/S and one to our German O Lineman.  The OL (Tobi) was able to play the next week but our American, Joe, had to miss the next game.  Joe will be ok and will have to miss this weeks game but he should be good to go after our easter break.

After the game we had a team dinner and then had the next few hours free.  At about midnight we had to catch our bus for a 3+ hour bus ride back to Vienna.  Once in Vienna we have to wait 2 hours for the train to leave and then a quick 6 1/2 hour train ride back home.

It was a good start to a long season.  We have a minimum of 14 games this year with the max about 20.  We have 3 new coaches this year, 4 new american players, about 10 Germans, a couple of Swiss guys, a Czech guy and a guy from Slovakia.  Other teams call us the French Foreign Legion.  We do have about 15 Austrians on our team but they are fading.  The ones we do have though are very good players and great guys.

I hope everyone is doing well.  Talk to you soon.
