There were 10 people that went on the trip, 8 from our team and 2 from another team. My group was the last group to arrive in Prague about 4 hours after everyone else. So of course by the time we got there everyone was drunk. Somehow the guys found a place in town that served a beer that was 13% alcohol called "The Master". So they met us back at the hostel
, and no i haven't seen the movie yet, so we could get something to eat and go out. There was a KFC right around the corner so we were all in heaven. The guys from the other team took us out to a 5 story club along the river. Never follow drunk people to a club. We walked for almost an hour out of the way to a club that was a 15minute walk from the hostel. The club was a lot of fun. Each floor had it's own theme. They had a hip hop room, 80's room, techno and some other stuff. The top floor was like a lounge with a view of the city including the Prague Castle. I had met these people from Switzerland and someone from France. So I was talking to them near the end of the night. When the placed closed at 6 everyone had left me so I had to find my way back to the hostel myself. Since it was 6am it was light out and somehow I was able to stumble back to the place.
The next day started a little earlier than I wanted it to. Our friends from the other team met some girls and they came over to our hostel at about 10:30am. So we all got up and were going to do some sight seeing. I had an idea we weren't going to see much that day, seeing that half the group hit the hostel bar for the by 2 get 1 free tequila special. We did try to see some things though. We really did. Prague has some beautiful cathedrals, lots of museums,
the walk along the river is pretty amazing. There is a night boat tour of the city that you can take. We tried to do that but got there too late. The St Charles Bridge
is cool, there are musicians performing on the bridge. There was an amazing singer at the end of the bridge singing opera. There are statues everywhere along the brdge and tour groups everywhere. That was pretty much all the sight seeing on that day though. Someone found a cool bar to go into and of course it was on again. We didn't stay there too long though because we got thrown out for being too loud. We should have stuck with the sight seeing because things didn't get much better after that. We ended up going back home to change real quick and go out for the night. The first place we went to was fun but we got thrown out of there also. Apparantly they over charged for some drinks and one of the guys got pissed and threw our whole group out. So we went back to the 5 story and stayed till they closed.
After a quick nap a couple of us really wanted to see some sights so we took off for the Prague Castle. The Castle was amazing. There was an amazing Cathedral in the center of the Castle.
You could walk to the top of one of the towers and get a view of the whole city. The walk was brutal but worth it. The only regret that I had was I wish I did an organized tour of the castle. All the written descriptions of things around the castle were all in Czech so we couldn't read any of it. With so much to see at the castle, it took up most of our day. I got in a much needed nap after that and it was off to the greatest bar ever. Hands down this is the greatest bar ever.
When you walk into this bar, there are about 15 tables that seats 6 people. There is a dj and a gogo dancer and a decent size dance floor. There are 3 Giant screen tvs. The thing that makes this the best bar ever though is that each table is numbered 1 to 15. Each table has it's own beer tap. You are charged by the liter at the end of the night and it is pretty damn cheap. On one of the big screens there is a score board and the score board keeps track of beer consumed. When we got there we moved up from 8th place to 2nd place in about 20 minutes.
Then the competition was on. We broke our table up into 2 so my table blew away the other one and we were competitng with a table of about 15 guys. we found out they were a soccer team and our guys refused to lose to a soccer team. Somehow we took over 1st place and the soccer boys left. We might have won that battle but we lost the hangover war. That was a rough night. The next day was our last, thank god, and we ended up doing a little souvenir shopping and checking out a couple more sights. There was one sight we didn't get a chance to see and that was the statue of Michael Jackson. Apparantely about 4 years ago one of the few places in Europe he visited that year was Prague and he is so loved in that city that they built a statue of him. It was out of the way and we ran out of time. If you get the chance to go there, definitely do a walking and night time boat tour and if you have time the Jewish Ghetto tour. I heard from a number of people that it was pretty impressive. Give yourself at least a day and a half for sight seeing. We met tourist from all over the world. With it being such a big tourist town, english is spoken in most places. I would recommend Prague to anyone. It was a pretty safe town, like anywhere just be aware of your surroundings. One of the girls at the hostel lost her wallet and one of the guys we were with got pick pocketed and lost about $40 US. Hope everyone is doing well.
This city is out of control. I think I told you awhile back that I thought I have seen everything on previous trips. I lied. Now I have seen it all and some of it, if I never see it again it will be too soon. Prague is a beautiful city. There is a lot of history and some wonderful sights to see. There is also a ridiculous night life that will put anyone into rehab.
