Guten Tag everyone, or something like that.   Well we won our last 2 games of the regular season and have one game left.  We play in the championship game of some Euro championship cup.  It's great that we are in this game but we have 3 weeks to chill before the game is played.  The team we are playing plays in our league championship the week before.    3 weeks is a long break but we will make the best of it.  We tried to get the game moved up but the other team wasn't going for it.    So this week is an off week for the players so everyone is off to some other country.  I am still undecided, it's between Prague and Rome.  Prague is cheaper so we are leaning in that direction.  I am going to try and make it out to Rome before I come home though.  We'll see what happens.
About 2 weeks ago we played a game against the Berlin Adler.  At the time they were the 2nd ranked team in the GFL (German Football League).  Also at the time we were the worst team in the AFL (Austrian Football League).  We were in every game but we always found a way to lose them in the end.  For some reason though we were able to step up in the EFAF.  It was a great game and some were saying one of the best games of the year.  It was shown nationwide and people from other teams were surprised how good of a game it was.  No one was expecting us to even keep the game close but we did better than that we won the damn game.  This is the first championship game this team has ever been a part of.  The game is on the 21st of July so if anyone is traveling in the Graz area of Austria, drop me an email if you would like tickets.  If you want you could take the party bus from Hohenems to Graz.  If you do that though, bring a spare liver because these euros can drink.    Kickoff is at 2pm.
The game we played last week was called the toilet bowl.  It was between us (last place) and a team from Carinthia (2nd to last place).  Their season was pretty much over after they played us 2 weeks before that.  They wanted to win that game and they were happy.  So when they came out to our place you could tell some of them didn't really care what happened in that game.  They traveled with 22 players for the game.  Four of the 22 were on the Juniors team and never played on the mens squad before.  With all that said, they were still leading for a good part of the game and then somehow we pulled a win out of our ass.  Our only win in league play.  As long as we won 1 game we were happy.  We had to have that 1 win at least.
Even though our team was horrible this year record wise, this will be an experience I will never forget.  I have had the opportunity to meet some great people from all over Europe and hopefully some people that I will keep in touch with in the future.  From our players to players and coaches from the other teams, to the fans that came out and supported us it has been amazing.  I wish you guys could have been out here to experience this with me.  I hope I have the chance to do this somewhere else next year.  We will see.  So 3 weeks until our game, hopefully we get this win.  It's on live tv nationwide so our guys should be ready, if they show up to damn practice more than once every 2 weeks.  I plan on taking a lot more pictures of my trip this week and of our game against Graz.
Sorry I haven't written much lately.  We have just been practicing and playing games.  It is a very small part of Austria with not much to do.  We have the Cineplexx which has about 6 bars and a couple of restaurants and of course a movie theater so that is the place to hangout at night.  I am going to try to squeeze in a lot of traveling this next month so hopefully I have something good to write about.  I gotta run, hope everyone is doing well and I will probably see you guys real soon.
