Woke up after 7, grabbed some breakfast, turns out Mom and Riss got stuck in a fire drill at the Polynesian spa where they went to buy some more stuff. Then, we set off to go lugeing once more because we loved it so much the first time. We decided to leave our bags at the hotel so that they wouldn't be visible in our car. This also meant we had to go back and get them. We bought 5 tickets which were supposed to take an hour. Mom didn't want to go, so she watched our stuff and drank coffee.

Took scenic track, saw we could take pictures, so the next time we did that route again and took pictures. This took half an hour and so we only had 30 minutes to do the last 3 rides. We could only fit in 2, so we gave away our tickets to a family of 3 adults and 3 kids and told them go tandem on the scenic track.  Then we still had to take the gondola down and we rushed to the car, then to the hotel where we loaded up the car .
.
. En route to the airport, I thought we were lost even though we were using GPS, I think I was just freaking out. We got there, dropped off the car and waited around for a while. This airport was the tiniest airport ever. Like 2 gates and we just walked right onto the plane from the tarmac.

The flight to Christchurch took a little over an hour, which flew by and when we got off, Chris (from Kowhai Farm) was waiting for us. He helped us load up our bags and we headed to his van. It was a 50-60 minute ride from the airport to the farm, all through beautiful scenery. There were snowcapped peaks in all directions and every pasture is separated by really tall hedges. It's amazing.

The farm itself is your classic red farmhouse with a horse yard and tackroom. They don't have stables, because their horses are kept outside year round. There were farm dogs running all around and we definitely got our dog fix there.

When we got there, we chose our rooms - Mom and Riss have an outside cottage with lots of windows and a lovely view. Amy and I chose a room inside the main house with a small window, but right across from the bathroom and right around the corner from the kitchen and sitting room. Then, we had tea, coffee and chocolate and talked with Chris about what to expect and where everything was. We also met Bruce, Chris' dad and introduced ourselves to him. He said, I got it, Eeenie meenie miny mo.  Amy was Mo. It stuck.

It was 5 or so at that point and we watched TV and used the internet until dinner .
.
. We watched the weakest link with weird UK people and decided that Anne Robertson is the meanest woman alive. Every time someone was voted off, Bruce (the crotchety old man) laughed. Then, we watched a British show called Family Affairs, then for some reason The New Adventures of Old Christine was on.

The dinner bell was rung and we moved into the kitchen. Dinner was at the table with Bruce and Liz, and Becky and Charlotte. It was amazing beef -homegrown - they called it silverside. Along with a spinachy type of vegetable called silverbeet, yams, mashed potatoes and carrots. It was all amazing, and weirdly, served without drinks. At dinner, we met Liz, Chris' mom, and Becci, his wife. We also met their two kids, 4 year old Charlotte and 18 month old Daniel. After dinner, we had cocoa, tea and coffee and sat around chatting for a bit. Some of the girls who were there for the weekend were watching America's Next Top Model and I said Oh, it's last season. And they were like, No it's the current season, you have a new one? I said Not yet, but I can tell you what happens in this one! They looked so scared that I assured them that I wouldn't ruin it for them. Then, we changed into our pajamas and went back into the sitting room so Amy could use the internet. We were there for a while, then headed back to our room and watched American Idol there. I fell asleep pretty early unfortunately, but I think Amy stayed up later watching that lie detector test show.
