First day in the big apple and we took the biggest bite we could. Everyone woke up happy and ready to go. Our first endeavour was to get on a double decker bus and do a tour of the city.
The concierge at the hotel was not very handy- Lucy described him later as a tourist. He sent us in the wrong direction and we caught the wrong train, but it worked out ok. We got off at Time Square. Nice day and ready to go. We all saw our first RAT in the subway it was huge. Lucy wasn't quite sure what she saw.

We get off at Time Square to Souvenir Heaven for the girls and price bandits for the parents. Would like to see grandma use some of her legendary haggling skills with this lot! Her and grandpa might finally meet their match!

On each corner they were bus buskers - trying to get us on their bus tour. Choices!!!!!
Eventually we found the right stop with the Captain on the helm with his baseball hat on. We had some idiot commentator on the bus. Words to describe him don't come easy- pick the dumbest twit on the planet and give him a microphone and that's the commentary we had. I wanted to get off the bus and try again.

Went on the bus down to Battery Park- caught the ferry to Statten Island- This gives you a great look at the city and you go past the statue of Liberty. This was really good and the first free thing we have seen in a long time. The only funny thing that happened was this black american came up and sat next to us and started drawing. He drew Lucy- then asked if she wanted it. He then started to draw Gabi. Obviously he wanted money so I went and got the BIG BOY to sort it out- He said he charges $20 a drawing, BIG BOY gave him $5.

Next we went to Ground Zero and looked at the rebuilding. Then we went into the museum- one of the most confronting and overwelming emotions i have experienced. It was very busy yet no one spoke. You could hear a lot of sighing and tears. Respectful silence. All of us were quite touched.

Next was Wall Street to check it out. Nice building but you could not see much. So many people. We commented several times that poor Uncle Matt could never make the Big Apple. Everyone a little overwelmed at times by the people.

Continued on our double decker journey. This was interesting and took us throughout the main areas of New York. Biggest Princess took over as photographer. Saw Brooklyn Bridge and all the important buildings and areas.

When we got off we walked past this ticket place that sold discount tickets to the theatre. We got tickets for the evening to see Mary Poppins for half price, 12-15 rows from the front. All 5 seats together - BONUS! It was one of the most amazing shows that we have ever seen. Everyone loved it. The sets were amazing.

Got back to the hotel around 10pm. Everyone pretty tired, but happy. Because we were on the bus and didn't walk to much no one was exhausted.

A great action packed day
