Today I was back in London, there was no set
time to be on the road to do stuff, I could get up anytime I wanted.
I still have a bit of a cough but that is the only thing left from
the contiki cough. Even though I could have slept in there was still
much to do. Fist up I tried to find some breakfast. The hotel does
not serve breakfast but after a few minutes walk I came across a pret
a manager. Her I got some porridge and some orange juice. After
having my breakfast I went to the post office and checked out about
the postage situation. I had a lot of stuff to send back home, so I
got two boxes and some masking tape to seal up the boxes.

After the post office I went back to my room
where my roommate was still asleep, I made up the postage boxes and
packed as much as I could into the boxes and sealed it up. I now had
two very heavy boxes and I took these down to the post office where I
was able to send them off, no problems, but it was 12 Kg worth of
stuff. Once the postage was done I went to the supermarket across the
street, along the way I walked past a dry cleaners, I had planned to
do some washing but as I was planning on meeting up with adam tonight
I would miss them when I got back as it would be late. The plan is I
will do some when I get to Prague. I got to the supermarket, got some
phone credit and some lunch. After that I returned to the hotel where
I went back to my room, got my lap top and went downstairs again to
use the internet. I used this for a bit then went back to my room ,
where I got my day bag and dropped some things off that I did not
need. My room mate was still asleep. I left the hotel for the last
time this morning, it was now 10.15am, I had woken up at 7am. I was
going to go to Greenwich and have a look in that area but decided to
change my plans when I realised how tired I was.

First up I went back to the supermarket area
where there was a second had bookshop, I dropped off some of my books
that I had read, bought some more and headed to Russell square
station. Instead of using the lifts I walked down all the stairs to
the bottom – that is a lot of stairs. I caught the tube to
Piccadilly circus. Here I got some books from the waterstone shop,
then walked around for a bit. I was trying to find a shop that sold
bags, as mine was falling apart, also trying to find a place that
sold shorts. After walking around the area for a bit and not finding
what I wanted I walked down to the strand area and had a look there,
with no luck I decided to head for Hyde park corner. I got off the
tube here and went to the Wellington museum and then the Wellington
memorial. This was an interesting museum, lots of pictures and
paintings, I got the audio guide so I learnt a lot.

After leaving the Wellington area I caught the
tube to North Lambert and got off and walked to the imperial war
museum. Here I wandered around for a few hours, learning about the
different wars and how the British got involved in them. It was an
interesting museum. I stayed here for a few hours then headed over to
the river, I ended up at Guys hospital looking for the Florence
nightingale museum, but even though I found signs to it, I could
never find the entrance. Instead I rested at a short wall overlooking
the river.

It was here that I got a message from Adam,
saying that he had to cancel getting together tonight as he had to
work. Never mind I would catch up with him in Sydney in December. I
then tried to see if Con wanted to do something, but he was busy, but
suggested that Tom was going to be in London tonight, I sent him a
message asking if he wanted to catch up and he told me that he was
arriving in the city that night, but would text me when if he could.

I then decided that tonight I would eat at the
royal national, have a drink or two then go to bed early. After
resting a bit I walked over Westminster bridge past the houses of
parliament, past big Ben and up to Westminster abbey. I tried the
Abbey when I was first in London, but it had closed, I arrived today
and there was a long line, so I got in line, paid went through
security and went into the Abbey. This is a nice church, there is
lots of history here, I looked around for a bit then left the abbey.
I decided that I was going to head back to the hotel, so I walked to
Victoria station. This was not the closest station to me at the time
but it was one that I knew well. About halfway there I came across
this shop selling backpacks and found one that I liked, it was a bit
expensive but I got it. It was a Swiss backpack that should last for

When I got to Victoria station I had a look
around the area one last time then caught the tube to Russell Square
via a few changes in lines. I caught the lift to street level, got an
ice cream and then headed back to the hotel. I got back to the hotel
at 5pm. I went to my room, showered, then used the internet for a bit
before completely repacking my bag and getting ready to go in the
morning. I still managed to make lots of rubbish and fill up the bin
in the room. I rested for a bit then meet my room-mate coming back,
he was dropping his stuff, repacking and then going to dinner. I left
the room soon after, made my way to London pub, had dinner then had a
drink with some of the others from the group who were left. There
were a few left so we drank. Max turned up with his trumpet that he
picked up from a mates place, then we sat around drinking and
talking. At about midnight as the London pub was closing for the
night, max played a song on his trumpet before being forced to stop
by security. After that I said goodbyes and headed to my room. Most
of these people were leaving London tomorrow, but some would be
around until the end of the week. It was good meeting these guys for
one last drink and I would miss them. Even though I had planned an
early night, I did not happen, but I went to bed knowing that I was
going to Prague and then Athens in the morning.
