Another stunning drive through the Andes on the way back to Chile.... complete with an 8 hour wait to cross the border! Frustrating but at least we had a Richard Gere movie to watch.... twice. Arrived in Valparaiso before midnight and found a posada with the help of a local (he acted a lot like the South Park character Big Gay Al!).
Unfortunately it rained a lot for our first day here but we still managed to get to see a lot of Valparaiso. We used the famous ascensores, which are old lifts that climb the side of the hills around Valpo.
There are thousands of stray dogs around the town and one followed us all day. We named it Hachi, in honour of the movie we watched on the bus...
We went to see the poet Pablo Neruda's house. Very interesting house full of weird things and it has a great view of the town. Great inspiration!
We also got to taste the famous pisco sour, a special Chilean drink. Really tasty, and really strong!
We didn't have much time here but we made the most of it!
