...and ending it on another boat.
Early start for our heroes...6:30 to get ready to go to the floating markets in Damnoen Saduak. Cool, no tourists around at that time and merchants setting up their stalls... on boats! Really chilled atmosphere and very friendly locals. Got a couple of souvenirs (getting a crash course in bargaining), everything was very colourful and different, even from Bangkok. After 2 hours floating around we got off to be greeted by........a BABY ELEPHANT!!!!! Amazing! It just so happened we had some bananas to feed him! So cool!
Bus back to Bangkok where we collected our bags, some food and off to Ayutthaya on a third class train (less than 1 euro for both of us in a nice enough train!). It was even hotter than Bangkok... Ian could gladly live in a sauna now! Found a nice teak guest house where to spend the night, lovely staff, good food...and a fan! Still not completely wrecked we went for a night boat trip around the island, not fantastic at the very beginning but we soon saw the most amazing wats and a big orange full moon just in front of us. Worth it.
