Anyway a slightly complicated route was enlived. I over took a woman walking her dog on her bike, I said good morning cheerfully, pulled a little way ahead and er encouragged the dog to chase me. She did see the funny side fortuneatly.
This morning also saw 20km/h tailwinds; my average speed is 10 mph but I was averaging 18 mph and was going at 20+ for some stretches. Fantastic after all the struggles in France. My intermediate target came up early so it was time to head on to Klostenberg just outside Vienna
Carefull checking of the route revealed a ferry connection was needed but it was a busy saturday so it would be ok. In the end it transpired there was a route round it and they had built a bridge. It was a pretty lagoon with a nice seaside feel.
Thee campsite at Klostenberg is modern and a bit pricy at e12 but they did provide a vienna street map which should make finding the hostel straightforward. Their tent site is a nice shady spot and the town has some very impressive old buildings. The receptionist asked if I would be paying in cash and I realised its a momentus moment. In three days I will be leaving the euro zone; the cash should be spent and new currencies and complications will arise.
I've decided to get the train between Bratislava and Budapest. I've ridden this bit before and I need to make up time. I need to get to Sofia in time to get the train/bus to Istanbul in about 3 weeks time.
Next to the campsite is a swimming pool. So I went for a swim and it was great to stretch the muscles.
