The landlord didn't fix the pipes properly so we got home to no water last night. I usually can't sleep until I'm showered and clean but I had to force myself to bed last night. Not a choice. It was yucky and icky! I was grossed out with myself.

Thankfully, it was fixed this morning and I had a wonderful cold shower. Hot water didn't work this time but who's complaining. I'm clean!

We picked up one of Amir's cousin and set off to Jerash. Half way through the journey, Dylan took over the wheel and experienced driving in Jordan. 20 minutes later, by the side of a mountain surrounded by olive trees and an amazing view of the town below,
we had a flat tyre.
Natasha and I stood by with our cameras and started laughing away while the boys were changing the flat. They gracefully posed for us.
Oh! Did I mention it is a bright sun shiny day?

Jerash is stunning. Once known as Decapolis during the Roman period, the Hippodrome, the Temple of Zeus and many other churches and structures still stands today. I stood by the Temple of Artemis and imagined how life might be like 2 millenium ago. How strange it must seem to people then, our lifestyles today. I'm sure the Romans never expected that when they built the city, tourist from all over the world with their cameras, hats and sunglasses would be standing on the same doorway 2000 years later. I've never stood on grounds that were from the biblical times and it feels strange when I think about it like that.

Further up north lies Ajloun Castle. Rebuilt in 1184 as a fortress during the period of the Crusades to limit the expansion of the Crusader Kingdom and the invasion of the Franks. In the castle, we saw many tourists from around the region. This castle is very obviously of importance to the Islamic community, as we didn't see many of them in Jerash.

2 hours of driving later, we finally made it back to the apartment. Whew...It's been an exhausting day.
