We have finally arrived! We have experienced yet another frustrating driving mishap! According to my sister our pre-printed directions took us about 2 hrs. out of the way to get to their house! We have now learned the importance of referring to the map before completely relying on the directions! This is the stuff that makes road trips entertaining!
While we were visiting we had a chance to visit some cool sights like Historic Williamsburg. We walked around and looked at some of the old colonial buildings and churches that had been preserved. The pristine landscapes and horse drawn carriages complete the atmosphere. They even had people dress up and reenact stories while taking you on tours of the various sights. It was very interesting to see how far everything has progressed since then
We also went to the Virginia Air & Space Center. We had a lot of fun playing with the kids on the various interaction equipment and rides. The most amazing thing there was the actual capsule from the Apollo XII space shuttle. Although, it was impressive to see that they also had a piece of Mars on display! We learned a lot about the huge air craft carriers and the various military and commercial airplanes. Who knew learning could be so fun?
My sister & I were able to convince the guys to watch the kids so we could enjoy an afternoon tea! Danielle really loves tea and tea parties, but doesn't get the chance to enjoy that often because of all the activities with the kids. This was her chance to relax and do something "girly" before their next bundle of joy comes! (She is pregnant with their 5th child!)
We were also able to go to Charlie's military base and enjoy an evening listening to the orchestra play. It was so cute to see Zachary & Brianna dancing along to the music! We took this opportunity to get a few family photo's taken while we were right by the water. Afterwords we went home and Charlie showed us that he can still do the Rubik's cube in less than 90 seconds with his eyes closed for the last 15 seconds...Amazing!
We had a great time and will be anxious to visit again next year so we can see my new nephew! Now we are off to Pennsylvania to see Aaron's sister...
