We have finally made it out to Cape Hatteras! It's funny how things seem a lot closer on a map than they actually are! Our drive ended up being about 2 hrs. longer than we had anticipated due to the fact that we did not call ahead to make a ferry reservation. Apparently the ferry's only run at certain times and if you miss it you may have to wait several hours for the next one! Instead of waiting 4 hours we opted to drive all the way to the top of the coast to get down to Cape Hatteras...the good news is that we beat the ferry anyway! The ride wasn't that brutal seeing as we were on a two lane road surrounded by the ocean and beautiful 2-3 story beach houses. I can definitely see why everyone comes here for a relaxing vacation! The town has such a small country/beach town feel to it that you feel welcomed right away even though you don't even know anyone
Well enough about the drive...we are very excited to finally be here and catch up with our good friend from college, Christine, and her family. We immediately put on our swim suits and ran to the beach to enjoy the water! We will only be here overnight so we are trying to relax and hang out as much as possible. It is great to see Christine & Justin and their boys...which have gotten so big! The rest of Christine's family was there as well, including her twin sister, Ann, and her new fiance, Jeremy!
After enjoying some very delicious Italian cooking by Christine's mom we spent the rest of the evening down on the beach making a huge bon fire and just hanging out. I wish that we were able to stay for few more days, but we have a lot more driving to do! Hopefully we will get to see them again soon!
We are now on our way up to Hampton, Virginia to see my sister and her family!
