Merry Christmas!
We wish you all a happy Holiday Season! The past several days have been cold (low teens) with a few dustings of snow. This has definitely gotten us into the the holiday spirit! It was so great to have a snowy white Christmas! It would have only been better if we could have shared it with all of you!
In the midst of the holiday chaos - preparing Christmas dinner and decorating the dining room - there was some time for celebrating! The Christmas party is one of the biggest, and most anticipated party of the year! It is held at the VMF, which is the mechanic shop for all of the big trucks and bulldozers. It is absolutely amazing how they clean out the bays and decorate it with giant ornaments and holiday decorations - you never would guess that is a grease monkey's jungle under all the sparkle! Besides having some yummy snacks, door prizes, Christmas caroling, and photo's with Santa on his snowmobile; there were also several 'photo opportunity' decorations such as a reindeer cut out (see photo), a giant abominable snow man, a sleigh with reindeer's and penguins, and a huge candy cane with mistletoe dangling from it! It was a fun evening full of holiday cheer!
The next day was our big Christmas dinner. This time it wasn't so daunting since we all had a good idea of how the day would go from doing Thanksgiving dinner, but with any event that serves 1,000 people you are sure to have an exhausting day!
As you can imagine the food was absolutely mouth watering! We had our big family meal first and then set off to serve 3 seating's of delicious food to our fellow hungry holiday-ers! Just so you can lick your lips too, here is a description of our menu:
Beef Wellington, Grilled Balsamic Duck Breast, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Duchess Potatoes, Vegetarian Almond & Coriander Crusted Tofu, Roasted Root Vegetable Medley, Fresh Poached Asparagus, Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Assortment, New Orleans Style Spicy Shrimp Cocktail, Tossed Green Salad, and an Assortment of Traditional Desserts: Gingerbread Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Mint Molten Cake, and Victoria Pastries
...and you though we had it rough down here!
Now that our big Christmas day is over we are looking forward to ringing in the New Year, Antarctica style (no watching the ball drop on TV this year!), which will bring more celebrating...and the most exciting concert of the season - IceStock!

Holiday Greetings
Hi Michelle and Aaron:
The Christmas pictures are great. Looks like you are having fun despite the hard work of serving so many for a holiday dinner.
Kim, Kathy & Doug (and families) were all in Daytona for Christmas this year. We had a nice time being together. Kim is expecting another baby 'girl' in May so we are excited about another grandbaby.
We are going out to Colorado to ski at Breckenridge and hope to avoid any Blizzards like those that you had last year. We are also going down to ride the COG railway train near Colorado Springs.
We love receiving your blogs.
A. Carol and U. Joe
