We will be in Denver for 2 days of orientation and safety training at the RPSC HQ. While at the airport we met several of our fellow co-workers; a few who are veterans (3 or more seasons) and others who will be going down for their first season as well.

We will mostly be sitting through endless meetings and safety classes as well as collecting our luggage tags, visas, and travel money for New Zealand. We have learned that there has been a 70% return rate this season which gives us a good impression that we also will return for future seasons...depending on how much we freeze this season, of course!

There are about 100 of us that are on this second flight to Antarctica. There are only 3 Winfly flights until the rest of the crew comes down in "Main Body" which is in the beginning of October. During Winfly there will be about 400 people and then when Main Body arrives there will be around 1,100. This past winter there were only 119 people and no kitchen crew (each dept. took turns in the kitchen) so they will be more than happy to see us!

Next we will be off to LA to catch our long flight (13 hrs.) to Auckland and then we will catch another flight to Christchurch, NZ.
